Fire Suppression Overview
The U.S. Air Force, in coordination with the BLM Southern Nevada District (SND), is actively managing the Gothic Fire. Fire suppression efforts in restricted military airspace are being led by the Nevada Test and Training Range Headquarters (HQ NTTR) with support from BLM SND Fire Management team.
The HQ NTTR is working closely with interagency partners to contain the Fire while ensuring the safety of personnel and the integrity of critical military operations. The remote location and restricted access of Range 74 allow focus on containment without public safety concerns.
The NTTR, managed by the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center at Nellis Air Force Base, encompasses approximately 2.9 million acres of withdrawn public lands, including Range 74, which is used for military testing and training activities.
Remember
Current fire restrictions in Southern Nevad, effective since June 12, 2025, prohibit open fires, fireworks, and tracer ammunition on public lands, and these measures remain in place to prevent further fire starts.
